Notice of claim
Findings of Fact
This was the first official suit against ISD 834 related to B.O.L.D., and was filed by independent community member Melissa Douglas via attorney Erick G. Kaardal on March 1, 2016. This suit is a "Verified Petition for a Peremptory Writ of Mandamus" and in basic terms, claims that the district broke a social contract with the voters. Asking voters to approve a bond for the betterment of all schools, then closing some of those schools, is a material change in the original intent of the bond. The remedy is either to follow through on the bond commitments or hold a new election. Members of the community are encouraged to complete an Affadvit of support.
